Summary and Review of Space-Time Processing Systems

Research Corporation (SRC), where I worked on radar systems engineering, signal processing, and system simulation. The first radar system that I worked on was a man-portable battlefield surveillance radar, to be used by military intelligence units of the United States Army. That radar system was necessarily small and simple, and therefore did not possess large computational ability. Mechanical beam steering, with sector surveillance and manual search lighting, was used to focus in on regions of interest. The second radar system that I worked on was a developmental multi-mission radar, which could be used for air traffic, air defense, and counter-mortar applications. This radar system used mechanical and electronic steering and also advanced signal and data processing. As a result of working at SRC, I have become very interested in radar systems. Space-Time Adaptive Processing (STAP) presents a third major kind of radar system, one with which I have not had experience, and so found Professor Bojanczyk's seminar about this topic to be informative and fascinating. Consequently, I decided to write a paper about his seminar. Professor Bojanczyk's talk, I will now be able to understand the papers presented in the STAP session much better.
